If you think about Pucci it’s certain you’ll experience a whirlwind of signature prints coloured in the most vivid of shades matching the extravagant lifestyle of glamorous jet setting Italians. Fabrics are always languid and soft filled with subtle movement reminiscent of the MediterraneanSea where the Pucci family roots are found.
The Pucci headquarters in Florence, Villa di Granaiolo, recently opened its doors to showcase the label’s incredibly rich fashion and design history. It’s almost like a Pucci museum where rooms display collections of both past and present. Laudomia Pucci, daughter of the late Emilio Pucci, says about the building, “I love the contrast between the severity of these buildings and our prints, this is the irony Pucci is about.” This is the first thing that struck us – the seemingly traditional building that houses one of the fashion industry’s most exuberant and colourful signatures. Laudomia says of this initiative, “This is not meant to be only a place of conservation but also of the imagination, open to students for formative projects and to designers alike. We have to put these designs back in motion and I don’t want this to feel old and static.”
Here are some of our favourite pictures of the Pucci display – colour, colour and more colour… perfect to match our mood for summer!
