Christian Louboutin was once quoted saying, "Yes, I wanted to be a shoe designer, but I never thought it could be a profession. But what was the alternative? Doctor? Too dirty! Air hostess? Maybe not! Then someone gave me a book on Roger Vivier and, cherie, instantly I knew that was it.” The man sure knows how to bring sexy to feet and thank fashion he made it his profession! However, after hearing about his collaboration with Bella Freud – queen of quirky knits – we were intrigued, to say the least, to see how he swapped his beloved profession to add that Louboutin edge to a few jerseys.

"Christian and I have been friends for 20 years now and he is godfather to my son Jimmy," Freud explained to UK Vogue. "I have often admired his drawings and I wanted to use some to put on my knitwear. I love the way a drawing comes to life when it is reinterpreted in another medium. On a knit it you get the sense of someone having actually drawn it, rather than it being a computer generated image." This hand drawn effect that Freud was after is beautifully captured on her knitwear and we love how it almost looks vintage – like it has a story to tell. This collection forms part of her Autumn/Winter 2011 range called “Fetish” and according to her website “the dresses and jumpers in 100% superfine Merino Cashwool in black and green with hints of Lurex portray images of shoes drawn especially by Christian. Fetish is a word we both derive a lot of inspiration from and this collection is a result of twenty years of friendship and mutual love of all things shoes between Christian and me.” An interesting combo of sexy shoes and casual knitwear – here are some of the pieces adorned with Louboutin’s red sole signature.
