Culture Chanel

It’s no secret that we follow every move the House of Chanel makes with great awe and borderline obsession. So when we read about the brand’s newest exhibition via WWD, the next natural step was obvious – share it on our blog. WWD says of Culture Chanel currently on display in Shanghai, “Twelve years after the first Chanel boutique opened in Beijing, "Culture Chanel," an exhibit based on the life and art of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, opened Saturday at the National Art Museum of China.”

This incredible exhibit features “more than 400 works of art, couture dresses, jewelry, photographs, paintings, and drawings all connected to Chanel's life and legacy.” What really drew us to this exhibit was the fact that it showed where Coco Chanel got her inspiration from and the people that influenced her and made an impression on her life – it’s beautiful to see how her love of camellias was born, how artists like Dali and Picasso awakened her creativity. And isn’t that the most important thing about any artist – outside influences that shape and form your process. WWD says, “Curator Jean-Louis Froment said that the exhibit was designed as an homage to each of the artists featured.”
