Butterflies and Bows at Erin Fetherston

September 2011

A while back we featured the stunning home of American designer Erin Fetherston and after falling in love with her home, her personality and that sprawling wardrobe we have been following her fashion moves with great pleasure. She showed her new Erin collection at Milk Studios a couple of days ago and after falling under her spell once again we had to share her Mia Farrow-esque designs dotted with that Erin-signature that we have come to love and expect.

A 60’s mod influence via cute shift dresses featured strongly in this easy-to-wear collection along with butterfly-printed shorts and skinny trousers, a cute black satin jacket teamed with matching narrow trousers and a beige chiffon shirt, sweet mini dresses from a-line to slightly prom-style and the final look of a sweeping chiffon gown flowing over a short shift dress in stunning black printed with dancing purple butterflies. But it was the flirty ruffles, butterfly prints, satin, lace and chiffon fabrics, sweet pink and juicy orange, florals, polka-dots and bows that reminded us who was at the design helm of this collection. It is easy to see Erin wearing any one of these designs – and like style.com pointed out, she also looks quite similar to the Mia Farrow lookalike that modelled the collection – but that aside, we loved the collection and how Erin is making her signature relevant and not just her personal taste.
