The masculine/”borrowed from the boys” look has been around for so many seasons that it surely can’t be called a “trend” anymore. We wear wide-leg trousers in manly colours almost every day; chic blazers with crisp shirts work at work and gentleman-like brogues sporting simple flat soles or fun wedges are irresistible. But lately this bromance with boyish looks has taken on a new glitzy persona and women are starting to put their stamp on the classic male evening attire – a tuxedo.

The Kardashians love slipping their femme fatale curves into tuxedo-esque designs and mom Kris is the leader of the black and white pack – who could forget their ultra debonair Christmas 2011 family shoot? It’s something about exuding extra confidence when dressed in a tuxedo that has us totally infatuated with the thought of rocking this monochromatic suit.

Alexa Chung, Chloe Moretz and Diane Kruger are all tuxedo queens and we love how they manage to keep their femininity in check by adding a feminine blouse buttoned down to show a bit of cleavage, satin trims on their blazers, a bit of sequins and always a playful element like a bowtie, spectacles, bows or red lips. This look demands confidence and a bit of cheekiness. Black tie event, here we come!
